$40 OFF COOLANT FLUSH SERVICE-- Originally $189.99

A coolant flush, also known as a radiator flush or cooling system service, is the process of adding cleaning to your vehicle’s cooling system to remove sediment and rust, then flushing the system with new antifreeze and conditioner to protect against corrosion. A full coolant flush is much different than simply topping off the fluid—it removes harmful contaminants and adds new, clean fluid. The job of coolant is to circulate through your vehicle’s engine and radiator and keep them cool by absorbing and transferring heat. Having your cooling system flushed on a regular basis will help prolong the life of important components like the radiator, heater cores, hoses, coolant pipes, water pumps, and gaskets. When left without regular maintenance, a coolant issue could damage or potentially destroy your car’s engine. Needless to say, it’s crucial to keep up with regular scheduled service. As a general rule, you should receive cooling system service every 30,000 miles or five years, whichever comes first. That being said, much like other regular scheduled vehicle maintenance, you can refer to your car’s owner’s manual to see what the manufacturer recommends. The interval may also depend on the type of coolant used in your vehicle and the environment in which you typically drive. Your technician can test your car’s coolant to see if it is dirty or corrosive and do a flush if necessary.

Make sure your tires are wearing evenly with a Tire Rotation and Alignment. keeping up with this service will ensure you are getting the most life out of your tires as you can! Tire Rotations should be completed at least every other Oil Change. Under normal driving conditions, an Alignment once or twice per year is recommended. However, this recommendation is very fluid. If you drive on particularly rough roads, or have a habit of contacting curbs (those pesky things come out of nowhere), then you should probably be on a first-name basis with your alignment professional. Keep in mind that there’s no guaranteed length of time that a vehicle will stay in alignment. If you hit a Cameron, MO-sized pothole, the alignment could be undone right then. Signs your vehicle may be out of alignment include:

  • Uneven wear across the contact patch/width of the tire. The inside (or the outside) of the tires is wearing faster. Note that the uneven wear can be limited to just a couple tires, or even just one.
  • Pulsing feedback and shaking of the steering wheel, or through the chassis (felt through the seat). This feedback occurs regardless of road conditions and road surface imperfections.
  • Steering wheel is off center. When driving straight, the 12 o'clock position of your steering wheel is to the left or right of center.
  • Pulling left or right. Without steering correction – as in, with your hands off of the steering wheel (we don't suggest making a habit of this) – the vehicle pulls to the left or right.

Did you know the heat is harder on your battery than the cold?

The summer months are here, and the heat is no joke. This is the time of year to hit the open road in your car. The beach, lake or river is calling. Your car’s battery, however, may not agree with your plans. Car batteries typically last from three to five years. With that being said, summer heat is actually tougher on car batteries than winter’s chill. Hot summer temperatures drive up the heat under the hood and accelerate the onset of battery failure. As a result, many motorists wind up stuck along the roadside in the summer.  Evaporation is one of many concerns as hot weather conditions continue throughout the summer months. Batteries in hot weather will diminish because evaporation of the internal fluids is a constant. As the liquid disappears, so does the conductivity and charging power of the battery. The fluid within a battery insulates the internal parts from extreme temperature swings. As evaporation continues, batteries in hot weather succumb to component failures. They may not happen right away, but the damage continues as each day brings on additional heat. Parts that might decline even in the best battery for hot weather include:

  • Positive and negative plates
  • Separators
  • Battery paste
Unless a driver diligently replaces the distilled water in the battery each week, this damage goes unnoticed until the battery ultimately fails.

BOGO ACDelco Wipers

With all the rain we have seen this past month, we are sure new wipers are a MUST! This month we are offering a Buy One wiper Get One wiper FREE deal on ACDelco wiper Blades. The rule of thumb is to replace your wipers at least every six months, but it could be sooner if you notice any of the following:

  • The blades are streaking, smearing or clicking when wiping the windshield. These are often the first clues for many drivers that there is a problem. If the wipers are still smearing after you clean the blades and the windshield, then you are ready for a new set.
  • The wiper blades have uneven edges and missing pieces. When you are cleaning your wiper blades, look down the length to see if the blade edge is even. Clearing salt or mud can damage the blades and leave them jagged. This causes the wipers to streak as they miss sections of the windshield.
  • Cracks are visible on the wiper blade. Just like tires deteriorate from weather, heat and time, wiper blades will crack if they are constantly assaulted by the elements. Once you see lines or cracks within the body of the blade, it’s time for a new set.
